1, Nanochemistry.
We actively explore new methodologies (reactions) for synthesizing nanomaterials, including dendrimers, supramolecular hydrogelators, and inorganic nanoparticles for bioengineering applications. Currently, we are using CBT chemistry to synthesize dendrimers for biological applications.
2, Molecular and Cellular Imaging.
We develop novel molecular probes for imaging or manipulating targeted biomolecules in normal and diseased states, usually for cancer early detection. Currently, we are developing MRI probes for cellular imaging and small animal imaging (mouse). The "smart" probes can self-assemble to form nanoparticles inside cells after being uptaken. Thus, the T1-weighted signals will be greatly enhanced at the targetting site (always tumors).
3, Imaging modality.
We combine different imaging modalities for disease dignosis, therapy evaluation, et al. We are developing "smart" probes for OPT/CT, SPECT/CT, PET/CT, MR/CT imaging. Our endeavor aims to detect cancer development at an early stage. Thus, we have the opportunity of developing new anti-cancer drugs to inhibit the growth and metastasis of tumor.
